On November 20, 2005, we had our 3rd Annual
Canvass Crusade Community Outreach.
"What's that?", you may ask. The Canvass Crusade Community Outreach is a
special event where we (the teens of CBC) canvass the community and invite
people to church. Our Youth Director, Brian Hargis, drew random names that
split us into two-person teams. Our mission was to pass out as many
invitations as possible in two hours. Each invitation was worth one
ProTeen point, so the more we passed out, the more point would be added to our
overall score.
Each team was given 50 invitations, a map, and assigned a sector to canvass.
The Youth Director and his wife dropped the teams off at strategic locations and
the race began! While Brian & Tracy patrolled the sectors, they also
re-supplied teams with invitations. After all was said and done, it was
team #11 that won the event by passing out 191 invitations! In just two
hours, we passed out 719 invitations! Here are the results...
After the Canvass Crusade, we had a
Pizza Party which included a
pizza eating contest! We had 12 large pizzas brought in from East
of Chicago. This was not a timed event, but a contest of "who can eat the
most". When all was said and done, it was Ben who claimed the title!
Now, there were two young men who couldn't keep their lunch down and ended up
hugging the porcelain toilet god. For security purposes, we can't say
their names, but their initials are Brian & Ben. Here are the results...
