When Disaster Strikes...

On August 29, 2005, the “worst natural disaster ever to hit the United Sates” destroyed the gulf coast, killing thousands of people and leaving over one million homeless. What if you had been there?

On September 11, 2001, a devastating terrorist attack on our country claimed the lives of over 3,020 victims, and injured 2,030. What if you had been there?

On April 3, 1974, one of the deadliest tornados in our nation’s history swept through Xenia, Ohio. Thirty-three people were killed and 1,600 were injured.

What if you had been there when the tornados hit? What if you had been there when the terrorist struck? What if you had been there when Katrina unleashed her fury?

Would you have been prepared to stand before God? What about now? Are you prepared? The Bible says, “And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” At that judgment, you will enter into Heaven forever…or be sentenced to Hell forever.

To be sure that you are going to Heaven when you die, you must know four things…

1. You are a sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” From lying to murder, everyone is guilty of doing something wrong. (Rev. 21:8)

2. The payment for sin is death. That’s right. We die because of sin. “For the wages of sin is death;” When a person dies without Christ, they go to Hell. BUT when a person dies with Jesus Christ inside their heart, they go to Heaven!

3. Jesus Christ died to pay the payment for your sin. ”…but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. Spending forever in Hell is a very hard thing to imagine. God hates sin that much, BUT, God loves the sinner! That’s why God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for your sin. That was the only payment that would satisfy God. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish (Hell) but have everlasting life (Heaven)”. Jesus Christ died for your sin so that you would not have to go to hell! “But God commendeth his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

4. You must ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sin. He died for you, He made your payment for sin, and He wants you to be in Heaven forever. BUT you must believe on Him, and you must ask for His forgiveness. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him (Jesus) from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

God promises to forgive and give you everlasting life! When you die with Christ inside your heart, you go to Heaven forever! Without Him, you go to Hell. Is Jesus Christ inside your heart? Have you asked for His forgiveness of your sins? If not, please pray this simple prayer and mean it with all your heart…

“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and in need of your forgiveness. I believe that you died on the cross and rose again for my sins so that I can go to Heaven. Please forgive me of my sins and take me to Heaven when I die. I trust you now as my Lord and Saviour. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
