Jail Ministry

Charity Baptist Church Jail Ministry consist of preaching the Gospel of Christ in our local County Jails.  This ministry has been active since 1993.  Numerous men and women have been saved as a result.

Our Pastor, Tom Gresham started the ministry with a handful of help, and currently oversees the project with the aid of the Assistant Pastor, Brian Hargis.  Today we currently have 11 Chaplains from our church who conduct services and follow-up on converts who have enrolled in the Mailbox Club.

One of the ministry's greatest success story is of David Charles Spurgeon.  He was a high ranking officer of one of the largest motorcycle gangs in the world.  David was saved as a result of this ministry on November 30, 1990.  Now he is an Evangelist and travels all over the globe with his family, both singing and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  To read the incredible story of what God did for David Spurgeon...click here!

Charity Baptist Church oversees all religious programs for the Greene County Jails.  Pastor Gresham is currently the Head Chaplain for the Green County, as well as the head Chaplain for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.  He is the point of contact for applications to become a Chaplain for Greene County.  There are special requirements and commitments to become a Chaplain.  You must commit to weekly and monthly visits, as well as participation and conduct church services.  There is also family and personal visit involvement.  Please call Pastor Gresham for more information if needed.

David Charles Spurgeon is one of the Lord's products from our jail ministry.  He was a former officer for the 2nd largest motorcycle gang in the world - The Outlaws.  After having his door kicked off it's hinges one morning by the ATF, DEA and FBI...God put him in a place where he could listen.  This is a true story you don't want to miss!
